The key steps in the labelling process
Assess your organization through the assessment platform, providing a justification for each response, and view your maturity score.
Verify your eligibility for the Intermediate or Advanced level and, if applicable, apply through the assessment platform for the “Labelia – Responsible and Trustworthy AI” label.
Once the organization’s eligibility is confirmed and the administrative formalities are completed, datacraft initiates the review and verification procedure, the purpose of which is to validate or invalidate the accuracy and integrity of the candidate organization’s self-assessment.
When the review and verification procedure is successfully completed, the organization pays the annual label membership fee. It then becomes officially Labelia Intermediate or Labelia Advanced and may present this status to its stakeholders.
The annual membership fee is due each year; each labelled organization holds the label for a period of 2 years, after which an updated assessment and a re-audit are required.
Annual membership
On the model of reference labels in other fields, Labelia organizations contribute to a share of the cost of maintaining, evolving, and developing recognition of the label. The pricing terms are as follows:
Flat application fee, payable upon submission of a labelling request in order to initiate the review of the application: €250 excluding VAT
For organizations that have obtained the label, an annual membership fee according to the following progressive schedule:

Q&A
Why does the label have value?
The eligibility requirements are serious and strict, notably including a high threshold score in the assessment, which requires an advanced understanding and implementation of the issues, risks, and practices of Responsible and Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence. The verification and audit method used is also rigorous and well-established; it has proven effective for benchmark labels in other fields. The label is awarded for only two years, in order to verify that the certified organization maintains a high level of maturity with respect to a framework that evolves alongside the discipline.
Finally, a reporting channel for potential shortcomings of certified organizations is in place and may result in the withdrawal of the label in cases of verified non-compliance.
How does it differ from other existing labels and certifications?
- It is a certification for organizations and not for models, systems, or projects.
- It focuses on AI, or more broadly on data science. Other, broader labels exist, such as those addressing ethical uses of data (Ekitia) or responsible digital practices and energy efficiency (INR).
- It is based on a framework that is a shared digital resource, open source. It evolves every semester to remain relevant given the rapid evolution of the field.
- It is supported by a practitioner tool, the assessment and rating platform, which is free and publicly accessible. This platform enables organizations to easily understand their maturity level, identify areas for improvement, access reference resources to implement an action plan, introduce newcomers to responsible AI issues, etc.
